Huddly Crew gets 3D spatial awareness
Today, Huddly is releasing a new technology foundation for Huddly Crew, which introduces spatial awareness, laying the foundation for even better AI-driven multi-camera video experiences.
Our vision for Huddly Crew is simple: to deliver video meetings that capture the nuance and energy of real, in-room interaction. All with AI-driven multi-camera technology that’s flexible, intuitive, and easy to deploy and scale anywhere people collaborate.
Today, we're taking another step toward that vision by adding a new layer of intelligence to Huddly Crew: spatial awareness, a breakthrough in how the system sees, understands, and responds to what's happening in the room. This new foundation sets the stage for the future of meeting experiences — where detailed, live 3D mapping allows cameras to understand space, movement, and interaction more like we do. Like there's a human behind every camera.

What version 1.9.10 delivers today
Practically speaking, spatial awareness means the cameras now map their position within the room and relatively to each other and to participants. By combining this understanding with directional audio and AI, Huddly Crew can make smarter and more accurate framing decisions in your meetings.
This release includes:
- Initial release of camera position estimation
- Improved Huddly Director behavior in 5- and 3-camera setups, resulting in improved speaker detection accuracy, less camera switching on the same speaker and fewer disruptive overview shots
- Enhanced center camera detection, resulting in reduced overview from side cameras
- Minor bug fixes and stability improvements
